Tips for Selling NFL Memorabilia on eBay

American football has remained one of the greatest of American pastimes, eclipsing even baseball on its rise to the top. There are some states in the United States that essentially shut down from the moment of their team's first kick-off until the end of the Super Bowl. So is it any wonder that collecting NFL memorabilia has become just as much of an American tradition?

The problem is, once the cheers are gone what is a collector to do with the pile of 'stuff' sitting around their house (and how long is it going to be until their wife tells them to find something better to do with it or she's turning their autographed Raiders helmet into a salad bowl)? The problem is that as much fun as it is to collect a pile of NFL memorabilia unless there is a room in the house devoted entirely to that purpose it become just one more thing to clutter up a home. Fortunately, there's a very profitable alternative. e-Bay.

e-Bay is an easy, practical solution to ridding a house of its clutter while at the same time allowing the football fanatic to justify the amount of money they spend on memorabilia throughout the year; it is no longer junk, it is an investment, particularly if it can be hidden for a few years. The resale of most rare NFL memorabilia is for a value much higher than it was originally purchased for, allowing serious collectors to make a great deal of profit from its resale.

Selling on e-Bay is not a complicated process. A seller has only to go to www.ebay.com and open a seller account. Once this has been accomplished it's open road all the way. There are a few guidelines that sellers should be aware of before they launch their own e-Bay retail line. First and foremost it is important to ensure that they have all of the facts regarding their memorabilia before they list it; if the next buyer is a serious collector they are going to want the complete history. This history should be listed under the product description on e-Bay, along with a photo of the memorabilia in its current condition. The photo and description are important because it's not only investors who shop for valuable memorabilia on e-Bay. It's wives and other family members who are looking for a good deal on a gift for their husband or other loved one but have no real idea of what they are looking for.

Finally, it is important that in the brief description that is shown when the item is first displayed with its fellow memorabilia it is necessary to give a few of the vital statistics which will catch a consumer's eye. e-Bay shoppers are both blessed and cursed with a short attention span; this prevents them from having the compulsive need to read through every product that is listed but it also ensures that unless their attention is captured within the first three seconds it's gone.

With the proper knowledge and a bit of patience and ambition a career selling on e-Bay is an excellent future purpose for those who find themselves having to look their wives in the eye and explain why they just spent three hundred dollars for a sweaty football helmet.
